A sawmill laid the foundations for Friedrich Bansmann OHG which had already been sawing trunks into boards and beams using hydropower since 1860.
In 1950 the huge demand for hardwood saw the sawmill become a merchant timber mill for wood species such as oak, beech, ash, cherry, maple and alder.
In the 1980s Dr. F.-W. Fischer met the trend for high-quality oak furniture with extensive investment and transformed Friedrich Bansmann OHG into an oak sawmill. We have used only the strongest good and very good quality oak trunks ever since. Dr. Fischer’s son Peter Fischer manages the family business and continues the saw mill tradition.
Careful handling and expert use of valuable oak trunks is at the heart of what we do. Furniture factories and wood traders use our versatile range for exquisite furniture and exclusive interior fittings.
Friedrich Bansmann OHG, Sägewerk & Holzhandel Friedrich Bansmann OHG, sawmill and timber merchant headquartered in Bielefeld, Germany. Our employees and shareholders have several decades of experience which has allowed them to become particularly skilled in assessing and managing good and very good quality oak.
The Bansmann sawmill has a total log capacity of around 10 000 m³. Our entire storage area spans 40 000 m², of which around 20 % is covered.
We store around 6 000 m³ of timber in our warehouse at all times for our customers in the processing and trade sectors.
